WHAT IS INTRAUTERINE INSEMINATION TREATMENT (IUI Treatment)
IUI is a procedure where semen is instilled inside the uterus of a woman after it has been processed in the laboratory. IUI Treatment is done at the time of ovulation.
It is recommended in cases of male factor infertility like low sperm counts or motility and also in case of unexplained infertility so as to improve chances of pregnancy
DOES IUI INCREASE THE CHANCE OF PREGNANCY
In IUI, the washed sperms are deposited directly in the uterus at the time of ovulation.By this there are more chances for gametes (eggs and sperms) to fertilise and cause pregnancy.
BEST TIME FOR AN IUI
The best period to do an IUI is immediately after ovulation (egg release).
HOW IS IUI PERFORMED? DESCRIBE AN IUI PROCEDURE?
IUI is a simple, non painful procedure.Firstly, the husband’s semen is collected and then prepared in laboratory so we get the maximum number of good motile sperms.Thereafter the woman (wife)is positioned to lie down and a speculum is inserted in the vagina. Semen washes in loaded in a sterile plastic catheter and introduced through the cervix into the uterine cavity and is then injected slowly.
WHAT ARE THE PRE IUI TREATMENT STEPS
IUI Pre Treatment steps are as follows:-
1)Screening tests for both husband & wife.
2)Tubal patency test of wife is desirable.
3)Ovulation induction with medications
4) Follicular monitoring by ultrasound.
5)Timing of ovulation by giving an HCG trigger injection (for
egg release) when the follicles are mature(>20 mm).
6)36-40 hours later, semen is processed and IUI done.
EXTRA PRECAUTIONS AFTER IUI PROCEDURE?
A woman is asked to lie down for 15-30 minutes after IUI procedure, thereafter she can resume her routine activities .She is asked to take prescribed medications on time as advised.
PCNL Surgery is a procedure to remove large and complex stones in kidney which are resistant to ESWL. PCNL is a minimal invasive surgical.
BLOOD IN THE URINE IS HOW MUCH SERIOUS
In case of blood in urine patient should consult the Urologist right away as it needs urgent medical attention. If ignored then complications may vary from urinary Tract Infection to malignancy/cancer.
PROCEDURE OF PCNL SURGERY FOR KIDNEY STONES
A procedure called percutaneous nephrolithotomy is a minimal invasive surgical procedure for removal of kidney stone using small telescopes and instruments inserted through a small incision (keyhole) in patient’s back. This is carried out in Spinal or General Anaesthesia. With the laser and lithotripter stone is fragmented and removed. A DJ stent is placed in kidney after the surgery and this stent is removed 7 days post-surgery.
RECOVERY TIME AFTER PCNL SURGERY
It takes 24 hours for a patient to get recovered after PCNL.
STAGHORN KIDNEY STONE REMOVAL SURGERY
A staghorn kidney stone or staghorn calculi are branched stones that occupy a large portion of the kidney. This can be removed by making multiple tracts into the kidney and stone is fragmented and complete evacuation is achieved.
PUS IN URINE
Pus in urine is developed due to presence of Infection, stone or tumor in kidney or urinary bladder.
RISK IN PCNL PROCESS
With latest advancements and skilled urologists PCNL is the safest modality which is carried out with minimal loss of blood.
EXTRACORPOREAL SHOCK WAVE LITHOTRIPSY
ESWL has been used for non-surgical fragmentation. It is non-invasive procedure performed to fragment stones using repeated shock waves.
